Bursaries and Scholarships
Haverstock Fencing Club's mission is "to promote the sport of fencing in the local community." In order to achieve this goal we offer discounts to Students and seek to offer Bursaries and Scholarships to our members when appropriate.
In order to achieve full transparency over how Bursaries and Scholarships are awarded, Haverstock has adopted a formal process for awarding them.
- Student discounts seek to provide financial support for younger fencers who are not yet in employment.
- Bursaries seek to provide financial support to those who would otherwise find it financially challenging to pay full membership fees.
- Scholarships seek to incentivise exceptional athletes to exclusively represent Haverstock Fencing Club in competition, and by doing so attract new members to the club.

Bursaries
Bursaries must be applied for in writing by the athlete or their relevant parent or carer using the application form below. The application should seek to explain briefly the financial circumstances of the applicant, ideally with reference to supporting evidence. Examples of supporting evidence include, but are not limited to:
Universal Credit statements
Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) documents
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) documents
Housing Benefit letters
Council Tax Reduction notifications
Redundancy letters
Medical certificates for long-term illness or disability
Proof of dependent children (birth certificates, child benefit letters)
Divorce papers or separation agreements
The application will be assessed by the Scholarship and Bursaries Group, consisting of the Head Coach, the Club Manager and the Welfare Officer. Taking into account the evidence provided, the finances of Haverstock Fencing Club and other relevant factors, the Club will then either decline the application, or offer a Bursary of up to 100% of the normal membership fee for a fixed period. At the end of that period, the bursary will end. If the applicant wishes to apply for a new bursary, the process is repeated.
