It's never too late to start your fencing journey!
If you've ever been intrigued by the idea of wielding a sword in combat, Haverstock Fencing Club can introduce you to the Olympic sport of epee fencing. Our highly qualified British Fencing registered coaches will teach you all of the basics including: how to use the equipment safely, footwork, blade skills, and the rules of the game.
Haverstock offers three options for those looking to take up the sport.
For those who prefer an individual approach, or are starting from scratch, we offer half-hour one-on-one lessons with our qualified coaches on Wednesday evenings and Saturday Afternoons for £25 per lesson. The idea is to help you quickly gain the basic skills and confidence to join our Beginner group sessions. Two or three lessons should be more than enough. In order to arrange one, all you need to do is register using the form below selecting the team "Adult Beginner Visitor", which will give you access to our webstore and booking system.
For those who already have some fencing experience, from school, a summer camp or a group beginners course elsewhere, and are ready to commit to the sport over the longer term and fence with other beginner and intermediate fencers, we offer a Beginners membership which starts with a long one-on-one induction lesson and then entitles members to attend unlimited Wednesday and Saturday sessions and a short individual lesson every week for £50 per month. To sign up for this, please select the team "Beginner Member" on the registration form.
Finally, when numbers allow, we offer six-week courses for small groups. The training comprises of a mix of technical exercises and hands-on practice, including sparring with metal blades. Beginners' Courses are priced at £120, and are offered up to three times a year. If you are interested in attending one of those courses, please contact us using the club contact form.
Whichever route you chose, we provide all of the equipment that you will require. All you need to bring is light sportswear which covers your legs, a water bottle and a positive attitude.
