Continuing the fencing journey
Many of our cadet fencers are graduates from our Under 14 fencing programme. They have mastered the basic skills of the sport. As teenagers, their increased size and power means they are ready to start using full-sized weapons. Now they will begin their transition towards the speed and intensity of the adult game.
Our cadet offering seeks to provide a bridge between our junior courses and full senior membership.
With a shift from group work to on one-on-one training, there is a greater emphasis on developing tactical awareness, advanced techniques and competition readiness. The cadet session also offer our teenage fencers the opportunity to begin fencing with seniors without any pressure to do so.

What does membership include?
Haverstock Fencing Club aims to make membership as simple and inexpensive an experience as possible for our cadet fencers. Our cadet programme is based around a weekly Wednesday training session, which includes a warm up, group exercises, sparring and a one-on-one lesson with a British Fencing qualified coach. Cadets are also entitled to attend our Saturday training sessions for free, and may participate in our senior sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays with purchase of a visitor pass from our webstore.
All required equipment is provided on site, and take-home equipment loans are available through our webstore in return for a small refundable deposit. We lend out equipment for use at competitions, and can offer limited armoury services when stuff breaks.
Cadet membership is only £50 per month
We do not charge a sign-up fee. The monthly contribution is all-inclusive. This contribution helps to cover our basic costs, which, when combined with thousands of hours of volunteer work, allow us to keep fees about 50% below market rate.
