British Fencing Affiliation
All members of Haverstock Fencing Club are required to maintain an active membership with British Fencing, the national governing body for the sport in the UK. This mandate is primarily a matter of insurance and safety compliance; the terms of British Fencing’s insurance policy, alongside the club's own regulations, strictly prohibit participation in any club activities if a member's license has lapsed. By ensuring all fencers are registered, the club guarantees that both the individual and the organisation are properly protected and that all activities are conducted in line with national safety, welfare, and safeguarding standards. Failure to maintain a valid license results in the immediate suspension of club membership or visitor access until the license is renewed.
A Note on Membership Contributions
Haverstock Fencing Club policy does not allow for refunds or fee reductions based on missed sessions. As a volunteer-led, not-for-profit community organisation, our overheads—such as the hire of the facilities at Haverstock School and coaches fees—remain fixed regardless of the number of fencers on the piste in any given week.
We appreciate that "life happens" and sometimes prevents training, but please remember that Haverstock is a members' club supported by subscriptions. Your fees go directly toward ensuring the club remains a viable resource for the local fencing community.
If you are unwilling or unable to commit to a monthly subscription, please do not apply for Senior Membership, and instead apply to become a Visitor Member.
