Starting fencing
Fencing is a wonderful sport for children, helping them to develop hand-eye coordination, balance and core strength along with valuable life skills such as self-discipline, patience and good sportsmanship.
Prospective child members do not need any prior experience of the sport to join our club; almost all of our students start from square one.
We provide all of the fencing equipment required and all children receive individual instruction on how to use it safely before joining in the action.

What is U14 Fencing?
U14 fencing involves fencing with equipment essentially the same as used by the adults, just slightly reduced in size, in order to make the weight manageable. U14 fencers learn exactly the same techniques that we teach to adults, and our most capable youths can give some of our Seniors some serious competition.
For children who wish to take the sport even further, there is a growing and increasingly sophisticated competition circuit for young fencers, with events and rankings at regional, national and international level, as well as a number that are independent and "just for fun." Haverstock regularly sends young fencers to these events, where they will be supported by club coaches whenever possible.

What does membership include?
Haverstock Fencing Club aims to make starting fencing as simple and inexpensive an experience as possible for our child fencers.
We do not charge a sign-up fee. Our members' termly contribution is all-inclusive, including all coaching and the loan of all required kit either on a lesson-by-lesson basis, or in return for a small refundable deposit if preferred. We also lend out equipment for use at competitions, and can offer limited armoury services when stuff breaks.
Under 14 membership is only £180 per school term.
This contribution helps to cover our basic costs, which, when combined with thousands of hours of volunteer work, allow us to keep fees about 50% below market rate.
We offer a FREE TRIAL session.
