Fundraising for a charity
In aid of a great cause, current GB Coach & Head Coach at Haverstock Fencing Club Alex Agrenich very kindly agreed to give a free one hour personal fencing lesson as an auction prize. A Memorial Dinner for John Grace QC (a former work colleague of one of the club’s members) earlier this year was seeking to raise money in aid of Mental Health Research UK (www.mentalhealthresearchuk.org.uk) – a charity co-founded by John. The lucky winning bidder of this fantastic prize was Christopher Grace (John’s cousin), who visited Haverstock Fencing Club on 29 March 2012 to be put through his paces! In fact, many years before Chris had fenced at school, which is why he was so eager to seize the opportunity of a personal lesson from such a top coach. The usual 15 minutes with Alex are gruelling enough, yet after his hour of coaching, Chris was keen to fence against some of the club members. Chris said he thoroughly enjoyed his evening – who knows, perhaps he’ll come along again! The event raised £200 for the above mentioned charity.
